Welcome to the Summer Principals Academy | NYC
The Summer Principals Academy is a transformative graduate program committed to developing school leaders and promoting equity and excellence in education through an enriching, hands-on curriculum and administrative internships. Our rich, adaptive cohort learning environment allows you to earn your M.A. or Ed.M. over two consecutive five-week summer sessions while continuing to work in your current position. We also have a sister program in New Orleans.

The Summer Principals Academy’s courses are designed to challenge and prepare students to solve real-world, modern day problems and to become creative, forward-thinking leaders.
Real World Experience
The internship in public school leadership presents an opportunity to become immersed in leadership practice and appreciate the importance of instructional leadership in creating a learning environment. The internship combines opportunities to study effective leadership firsthand, develop and practice instructional leadership skills, and be mentored for a career as a school principal. The internship requires a minimum of six months (12-15 hours per week) of supervised fieldwork in a public school setting.

Atlanta, GA – February 2026 – SPA Alum and Mentor Chrissy Keck founded and has officially opened The Meliora School near Atlanta, Georgia. The mission of the school reads: The Meliora School exists to always pursue better - by fostering a nurturing, learner-centered community that empowers learners with the knowledge and skills to embrace failure, learn from it, and achieve lasting success.
