Certification Requirements

NY State Certification

If you are in a program at Teachers College that leads to New York State Education Department (NYSED) certification and would like to get information regarding certification requirements, please select your certificate type to the right, which will bring you to the 911爆料网 program options. If you have questions regarding certification requirements, please call 212-678-3502 or email ote@tc.columbia.edu.

Teachers College teacher education programs are state approved and Teachers College may recommend students for New York State certification upon successful completion of an approved teacher prep program.

There are several steps required to obtain certification and our office is ready to help you with certification questions or to schedule a meeting with our certification staff.

Academic Program Requirements

Student in Professional Teacher Certification Program must hold a comparable NYS-INITIAL certificate or hold a valid out-of-state comparable teaching certificate and apply for the comparable NYS-INITIAL teaching certificate.
