Established in 1938, the Department of Curriculum & Teaching at Teachers College was the first of its kind in the U.S. Since the beginning, we’ve been dedicated to the education of teachers, supervisors, and teacher-leaders working both within and outside of traditional classrooms. Students in our programs focus on current problems in curriculum and teaching across all subjects and levels of schooling. 

Our program engages educators of all levels in critical questions of pedagogy, knowledge, and society. Along with educators from traditional classrooms, many applicants include those who have worked in museums, community-based organizations, and other places of learning as teachers, learning designers, curriculum developers, administrators, mentors, and professional development facilitators.
