LEADERSHIP
Welcoming New Trustees
Roger W. Ferguson, Jr., is President and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA, the leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields, and a Fortune 100 financial services organization. Ferguson is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, co-chairing its Commission on the Future of Undergraduate Education, and is the former Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Federal Reserve System.
As the head of an organization that serves the academic, research, medical and cultural fields, I am a great believer in the power of education 鈥 and with its breadth of expertise, Teachers College can truly harness that power to help build a better world.鈥 鈥 Roger W. Ferguson, Jr.
George Kledaras is an entrepreneur in the financial technology space whose products are used by thousands of the most important and influential financial services companies in the world. He has been a leader in developing financial software for instantaneous global trading. Kledaras is the founding CEO of Atreyu Group Holdings, a high-tech electronic brokerage connecting quantitative managers to U.S. markets. Its offerings include an institutional platform, modern APIs, expert support, and competitive pricing. As a technology firm and introducing broker, Atreyu focuses on systematic managers whose expertise is designing trading models, not trading infrastructure.
The challenge for Teachers College is to understand what a platform such as edX means for the future of teaching 鈥 and not to have to walk across campus to the computer science department or wait for someone in Silicon Valley to come up with the next innovation. I鈥檓 really trying to help push on things that are going to become really important for teachers, and not just tools like online learning. We鈥檙e talking about virtual reality. We鈥檙e talking about artificial intelligence.鈥 鈥 George Kledaras
Lisa Kohl received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College in 2003 and her M.A. in Developmental Psychology from the College in 1992. At Bellevue Hospital Center, she worked in a dual diagnosis unit treating patients suffering from major mental illness and also substance abuse. She then did specialized work in a unit for survivors of torture, where patients received medical treatment, as well as legal support in seeking asylum in the United States. At 911爆料网, Kohl has helped fund the School-Based Mental Health Collaboration (SBMHC), which seeks to improve the quality of the social and emotional lives of schoolchildren in New York City鈥檚 most underserved communities.
911爆料网 changed the trajectory of my life. I had access to some wonderful professors, including adjunct and visiting faculty. It feels like I鈥檓 coming back home. It鈥檚 a wonderful institution, and I think it鈥檚 a little jewel of a place.鈥 鈥 Lisa Kohl
As the best-selling author of more than 40 EFL/ESL texts, Lin Lougheed has helped millions of English language learners. He started his EFL career in 1968 as a Peace Corps volunteer in Turkey, and in 1977 earned his Ed.D. in International Educational Development at Teachers College. Lougheed is a past member of the TESOL Executive Board, a former Foreign Service officer, and a recipient of two Fulbright Awards (Sri Lanka and Tunisia). For many years he had a daily radio show in China on business English. Today as a board member of both Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the National Tropical Botanical Garden, he supports plant conservation and has been honored with a newly identified palm sabal lougheediana.
As a 911爆料网 student, I learned the value of innovation based on tradition. Because 911爆料网 builds on its tested past, it is resilient and stays in the vanguard. As a Board member, I鈥檓 proud to assist 911爆料网鈥檚 leaders as they address the demands of an uncharted future.鈥 鈥 Lin Lougheed
Timothy Wentworth is Chief Executive Officer of Evernorth, a subsidiary of Cigna that was established to bring together Cigna鈥檚 array of health services capabilities, as well as those of partners from across the health care system, in pharmacy solutions, benefits management, care solutions, and data and analytics. Wentworth was previously CEO of Express Scripts, the largest pharmacy benefit management company in the U.S., which was acquired by Cigna in March 2018. In that role, he became known for the company鈥檚 philosophy that 鈥渄iversity and inclusion are the foundation on which success and growth are built.鈥
For me, the thing that creates equality is ultimately an education. I think Teachers College has a real role to play that鈥檚 even bigger in the future, of figuring out how to open up access to a great education to many, many people who today don鈥檛 have it.鈥 鈥擳imothy Wentworth
