Anthropology Research Fund in Honor of Lambros Comitas

Anthropology and Education Program

In his early studies of Jamaica, anthropologist Lambros Comitas helped develop the concept of occupational multiplicity, identifying workers who defied classification as peasant farmers or other categories. His work provided important insights for government programs and international aid aimed at improving people’s economic circumstance.

The Anthropology Research Fund in Honor of Lambros Comitas was established in 1992 by friends, colleagues and former students, with additional funding from the Estate of Glenn L. Hendricks [Ed.D. 1972], to support students in the field of Anthropology.
